Why Should You Have Your Dryer Vent Installed by Dryer Doctors?

Properly installing your dryer vent system is a critical safety and efficiency measure. A professionally installed vent:

Helps Prevent Fire Hazards

Lint buildup in improperly routed vents is a leading cause of dryer fires. We make sure your connections are secure and lint has fewer places to build up.

Makes Your Dryer Work Better

When ductwork is properly sized and sealed, it promotes better airflow. Better airflow means faster drying times and lower energy bills.

Extends the Life of Your Dryer

When your dryer doesn’t have to work overtime due to restricted airflow, it experiences less wear and tear.

Improves Your Indoor Air Quality

Leaks or blockages can cause moisture and lint to back up into your home, potentially leading to mold, mildew, or allergen issues.

Keeps Your Home Up-to-Code

Building codes often specify materials and layouts for dryer vents. Our installers make sure to follow Dane County’s local regulations.

Dryer vent hose

How do you know you need a new dryer vent system or replacement parts?

You don’t want to replace parts that are still good, but you also don’t want bigger (and costlier) problems down the road. Here are five common signs to watch for that tell you it’s time to replace your dryer vent system:

1

If your dryer suddenly takes more than one cycle to dry clothes, restricted airflow could be the culprit.

2

Cracks, tears, or kinks in the duct can compromise airflow and pose a safety risk.

3

If the dryer or surrounding area feels hotter than normal, it may be struggling to push out hot air.

4

Condensation or musty odors near the laundry area can mean the vent isn’t exhausting properly.

5

Finding lint around the dryer, outside vent cover, or in unusual places indicates a possible leak or partial blockage.

Don’t let a poorly installed dryer vent put your home at risk or run up your energy bills. Fill out the form below to schedule a professional dryer vent installation. Experience a safer, more efficient dryer with the help of our installation experts. We look forward to serving you!

Key Parts of a Dryer Vent System

Flexible Transition Duct

The dryer hose/transition duct connects your dryer to the wall or ceiling’s primary exhaust duct. In some homes, this transition hose connects directly to the outside wall.

A secure, U.L.-listed hose prevents leaks, blockages, and hazards. Dryer hoses should be less than 8 feet in length. They should also be made of semi-rigid metal that doesn’t easily compress. If your transaction duct is made of foil, this component will need to be replaced.

Primary Dryer Duct

The primary exhaust duct is the main conduit that carries hot, moist air from your dryer to the outside. In homes where the laundry rooms are located inside an interior room, this duct can be quite lengthy.

A correctly installed exhaust duct improves airflow which promotes a speedy exit of  lint and moisture to the exterior of your home. Building codes and dryer manufacturers recommend installing galvanized ducting.

Outside Exhaust Hamper

The exterior exhaust damper is the final cover or hood on the exterior of the home, directing exhaust away from the siding and preventing backflow.

Most building codes require exhaust covers to be a one piece hinged damper. Metal units work best and last for years.

Birds and small rodents often build nests in dampers. We most often install dampers with magnetic closures to keep animals out.
